How did you decide on your career path?
I was always good at math and was interested in all things STEM related. My dad is also an engineer, so it’s fun for me to follow in his footsteps.
What is your favorite part of the design process?
I love the very beginning and the very end of the design process. Kicking off the design process, putting plans together, and figuring out layouts is extremely exciting. And then, seeing the finished project – making the transition from a pile of dirt to a structure that serves and inspires its community – is icing on the cake.
How are you creating vibrant communities through design?
I’m lucky enough to serve on the Sioux City Public Library Board of Directors, which provides direction and support to the library staff to further its mission. I thoroughly enjoy reading and read multiple books weekly, so it’s important to me that everyone has access to library resources to enrich their lives and their communities. You can also find me helping out at animal shelters and taking in animals, because I can’t help myself!
What makes Siouxland a great place to live?
Siouxland is a great place to live because the people are so friendly, and there are so many opportunities, especially for young professionals. We are also able to enjoy all the amenities of a city, while being 15 minutes from beautiful rural areas.
