Q&A with Architect Kim

How did you decide on your career path?

I’ve been around construction most of my life. I knew sometime around the fifth grade that I wanted to be an architect.

What is your favorite part of the design process?

Pre-design and schematic design are fun, because you get to look at several different options for how spaces will work together. With that said, seeing the completed project is pretty exciting, too!

How are you creating vibrant communities through design?

I enjoy working with local school districts and libraries. It’s great hearing from people in my community and surrounding communities about how our projects will impact their lives.

What makes Dubuque a great place to live?

I love living in southwest Wisconsin, because there are so many different outdoor activities you can take advantage of. My family enjoys hunting and fishing. There are numerous lovely small communities, as well.
