Wetzel Hall Demolition

Western Illinois University    /    Macomb, Illinois

The 285,000 sf Wetzel Hall Residence Hall at Western Illinois University was imploded in 2012 and consisted of 13-story residence hall structures and a 2-story dining hall structure. FEH was able to achieve a 95% diversion rate from the landfill and save the University over $900,000 in demolition costs. Limestone and slate tiles were salvaged from the building to create a 200 ft memorial wall to the Residence Hall which doubled as the bus stop.
