The City of Lancaster’s Schreiner Memorial Public Library situated in the highly visible and centrally located Ryland Park was undersized based on current building program needs. The City challenged FEH DESIGN to design a library that showcases the site’s natural beauty and minimizes the impact of the project on this important community green space. The community believed the style of the existing library building should be maintained. FEH honored that request by keeping the prairie style and choosing finishes that blended well with the surrounding area. The result was a beautiful new library facility that honors the surroundings and provides a 21st century library on the inside.
