FEH DESIGN was challenged by the School District to create unique areas for student use for collaborations, work spaces and opportunities for cross subject project based learning for the Muscatine High School. FEH worked closely with instructors and administrators to find the solution that answered the District’s challenge. The design created a college-like atmosphere with flexible teaching areas, student gathering and collaboration spaces, a workshop space and a signature façade on the approach drive. FEH DESIGN’s solution involved constructing eighteen new classrooms, addressed circulation between 1st & 2nd floors, updated both boy’s & girl’s PE and athletic locker rooms. In collaboration with the District’s Superintendent and High School Principal, FEH DESIGN also developed the master plan for the 5 additional phases of remodeling within the existing building to create classroom sizes appropriate to standard needs, but with flexible configurations to allow for future changes.
