MARK TAYLOR

Mark is a project manager passionate about creating vibrant designs that unite communities. As a Virgo, he believes in meticulous attention to detail and has a people-first design approach. With his years of experience and a love for mentoring the next generation of architects, Mark is ready to craft spaces that inspire and connect.

How did you decide on your career path?

In high school, I took an independent study course in engineering and was given a space to complete my work in the back of an architectural classroom. It wasn’t long before I found myself drawn to meandering about the architectural class, talking, sketching, and sharing ideas on their projects on a regular basis.

One particular day, I was in my study area, once again stuck in the rigor of proofs to solve a design problem that is specific and known. “Why do I have to design to a known conclusion? Why can’t the conclusion be unknown, and why can’t exploration define the problem?”

Light bulb moment!

I looked at the architectural students, stood up, and shut off my Apple II Plus. I was architect-bound. 

What is your favorite part of the design process?

Imagining a reality that does not yet exist and designing that experience to fit a program, budget, and schedule.

How are you creating vibrant communities through design?

Vibrant communities bring people together. A people-first focus, or design, enhances the experience of our community by bringing connections.  Whether it’s working with a group during a Spark Session, one on one with a client, or even coaching my youth sports teams, I focus on doing my part to design vibrant communities.
