The DeWitt Community Library was ready to expand and meet the future needs of their community just outside the Quad Cities. Using FEH Design’s Library Space Planning Tool, the team explored flexible and functional design options. The expanded library now includes a children’s area with a separate program room, conference room, small group spaces, teen area, study rooms, genealogy department, and a quiet reading nook with a double-sided fireplace. Strategies like moveable furniture, mobile book bins in the children’s area, operable partitions, and multipurpose spaces were implemented into the design to serve patrons and staff well into the future.
The community was able to utilize multiple funding sources from local citizen and business donations, as well as national grants focused on technology.
