This project started with an FEH Spark Session for the future needs at Living History Farms. Following the master plan, Living History Farms received a $1.488 million Destination Iowa grant from Iowa Economic Development Authority.
Cultivation Complex: New, flexible exhibit and storage space to rotate traveling and in-house curated exhibits and collections. Meeting spaces for community engagement opportunities. Visitor amenities including family restrooms, adult changing stations, and mother’s room.
Learning Center: Renovation of the current Visitor Center to include classroom spaces for year-round education and camp programming, and indoor lunch spaces.
Cultivation Courtyard: An all-season enclosed picnic shelter, accessible demonstration gardens, agricultural-inspired play space for children, indoor/outdoor classroom, and an indoor/outdoor demonstration kitchen with a fire pit for food-ways programming.
