The project involved renovating the interior of the existing Squadron Operations facility, Building 254. The goal was to create energy-efficient spaces for the Global ASNT system and a dual Alert Facility. To achieve this, the design made use of the existing tall roof structure to vary ceiling heights along circulation routes. Clerestory windows were installed to bring daylight deep into the interior and allow views of the flight apron to monitor aircraft. The tall structure also allowed for the creation of circular spaces, which reference the base logo “Home of the Bats.” Additionally, new exterior facades were designed to reflect the bat theme and identify the building.
