Grand View University has been located in the heart of the City of Des Moines for more than 100 years. Its location in a neighborhood has made it difficult to be recognized by those not familiar with the area. The University wanted to make its grounds feel more like a campus and raise its visibility in the community. To accomplish this, FEH DESIGN was challenged to create something significant that would positively impact both the student experience and the community recognition of the campus. The solution created a remarkable entry for the campus with bookend monument signs and a major circulation corridor to unite the campus with a new pedestrian mall that tied its buildings together and created a highly active center for the daily campus experience and to be utilized for special outdoor student events.
